The cost of the tourism tax: A total fee of $241 Mexican Pesos when converted should be approximately $12 U.S Dollars. The fee or tax are applicable to every visitor or tourist in Mexico, except for a child of 2 years of age. Therefore, the tax is applicable to children as well and the starting age is 4 years and above.
How to pay the tax: Mexico tourist tax payment are made online through the Mexican Government's VISITAX website. It can be done before or during the visitors trip. It is still necessary that the tourist makes a print out of the tax payment in order to serve as a proof to the security personnel sometimes before they are allowed to board their flight back home.
Only one site is used for payment: This is more of a word of caution. The one and only site to make payment is the official site with the name VISITAX, several hackers have tried to take advantage of tourist after the tax introduction, be vigilant.

During the period the Mexico tourist tax was introduced, the tax lacked a system to render support in its enforcements. Therefore, this led to several tourists traveling to and fro without paying the tax. Presently, the Mexican government have gradually added some infrastructure to the system. Now, payments can also be done in person.
