Extra, Extra!  Make sure

and check here for recent info!

Mr. Jennings has given me the total food amount collected by the pack and troop combined;  you guys collected 2800 pounds of food, 80 full carton boxes at 35 pounds apiece.

Good Job!

The  Court of Honor was a resounding success! The pictures that were taken have been put into a web friendly format (to prevent excessive download times) and posted on the troop pictures page.  Go check them out.. you guys looked sharp!!!  If you want larger more detailed files for your personal use, contact Dr. R.

Many of the pages were cleaned up, old links eliminated, etc. tonight... and ALL by the Scout Webmaster, Lance L!  I just watched.  Good job, Lance... Scouts, please review the webpage and let Lance know of anything you see that needs to be fixed!

Lance L is the new Scout Webmaster for the troop.  He, his mom and I spent a good bit of time going over the webpage this (Saturday 8.25.07) morning.  Blanche Marie knows Front Page (the application I used to write the troop's webpage) and she and Lance and I will be collaborating on keeping it up.  Way to step up to the plate for the troop, Lance!

The Court of Honor, initially tentatively planned for September, will be moved to October, and will probably be held in lieu of a Monday Scout meeting in the SMM Family Life Center, not the gymnasium.  This delay allows more time for those scouts who got partial completion of merit badges to finish them prior to the Court of Honor.  Mr. Falbo has the record of partials.  If you are one with a partial MB completion from summer camp and need to check on what you still need to do, send him an email.

The SPL, Nick F, is going to try to make the first part (announcements, etc) of the meeting more concise.  He wants anyone (Scout or Scouter) that has an agenda item for the meeting to be sure and email him so that he has it by the Sunday PRIOR to the Monday meeting. He is considering audiovisual presentation as part of the meeting.

The troop will be looking at a one day outing (maybe on the water) in September, and will be attending the Fall Fort Gatlin Camporee in October.  That Camporee includes building canoes out of cardboard and duct tape, and paddling them (scouts inside) to a marker and back through alligator infested water, for competition, in a lake.  Brush up on those "building a floatable cardboard canoe" merit badge and "Alligator survival" merit badge skills!  (You DO have those merit badges already, right? :)   Just kidding 'bout the gators, of course)  Scouting for Food takes two weekends in November;  a Santos bike trip is tentatively planned in November for one of those weekends, with departure for Santos right after food bag putout or pickup.

The "scoutmasterT62@cfl.rr.com" email address will be discontinued, shortly. The "scoutmasterT62@gmail.com" address remains active.  Mr. John Timmes, Troop 62's new Scoutmaster, has access to that address.  You can reach him there or at his personal email address.

Looking forward to a good scouting year!

Yours in Scouting

Dr. Richbourg
